Irvine Housing Association is a non-profit making organisation and was established in 1993. Taking account of existing stock as well as the various new housing developments that the Association has built, the Association has over 2,000 rental properties throughout North Ayrshire, East Ayrshire and Dumfries & Galloway. Efficiency is one of the Association’s core values and aims to ensure that resources are used most advantageously to deliver value for money for customers and stakeholders.
Reduced costs through effective utility management
Business Cost Consultants were engaged by Irvine Housing Association to manage and reduce utility costs across their portfolio of developments. Business Cost Consultants were quickly able to reduce time and effort spent on the administrative side of managing these supplies. This reduced the workload placed on Association staff and allowed focus on other, more core areas of the organisation. With Business Cost Consultants checking all incoming utility bills, Irvine Housing Association could be safe in the knowledge that their utilities were being managed by dedicated experts.
Business Cost Consultants were also able to provide Irvine Housing Association with significant cost savings since being engaged to manage utilities. BCC were able to perform a formal tender for energy contracts on behalf of Irvine Housing Association, in conjunction with consolidated multiple supplies which further streamlined utilities. Performing such a tender can be a time consuming and very complex task. Business Cost Consultants were able to remove this hassle for Irvine Housing Association and supply expert knowledge of the market place, energy suppliers and utilities as a whole. This again gave Irvine Housing Association peace of mind that this process was being handled by trusted experts and that the most competitive and suitable contracts possible would be achieved.
Through BCC’s tender, it is predicted that Irvine Housing Association will be able to save 52.3% of their overall energy spend. This represents a significant saving over previous gas and electricity costs, and allows the Association to increase resources.
In addition to the savings achieved through contract procurement, Business Cost Consultants were also able to negotiate a sizeable rebate on charges levied by a previous gas supplier. This rebate will represent around 34.2% of Irvine Housing Association’s previous year’s overall utility spend. It adds to the significant savings which we were able to assist Irvine Housing Association in achieving. Overall, this was an excellent result for our client and a further example of the cost savings and other benefits possible as a result of Business Cost Consultants’ services.
“BCC have provided a very efficient, professional and cost effective service to Irvine Housing Association and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to other companies who are looking to negotiate the best price for their utilities contracts and reduce their overall energy consumption.” — Frank Boyle (Project Manager)
