Cost Reduction for Social Landlord in Electricty, Gas, Water and Telecoms
Melin Homes is a social landlord which owns and manages 3,800 properties across South East Wales and is expanding.
Business Cost Consultants was assigned to manage energy services, as well as helping to reduce water and telecoms costs. A variety of cost reduction measures were identified and implemented. This resulted in refund recovery amounting to around £18,000 and ongoing cost savings in excess of £60,000 per annum.
Further savings have been achieved through an effective energy purchasing strategy which has included buying energy when wholesale prices are low.
An audit of telecoms costs also identified savings of over 50% for fixed line and mobile services.
A number of energy bill management solutions and reporting have saved significant staff time and enabled Melin Homes to efficiently control cost and allocate charges.
