Cost savings for UK charity

Marie Stopes International is the UK’s leading provider of sexual and reproductive healthcare services. Their nationwide network of sexual health clinics see over 100,000 men and women each year who come to them for information, advice and professional care. Marie Stopes International also provides services in 43 countries including some in the world’s poorest regions. Surplus funds from the UK clinics are used to help support vital sexual and reproductive healthcare programmes which are helping to improve the lives of nearly 6 million people every year.
Situation:
Due to their rapid growth, Marie Stopes International were interested in getting advice on consolidating their energy supplies and becoming as cost efficient as possible. They engaged Business Cost Consultants (BCC) to manage their electricity, gas and water supplies for all of their sites throughout the UK, including clinics and administration offices.
Strategy:
The bespoke management service which BCC offers meant that they would be taking care of the hassle associated with utility billing for Marie Stopes’ 18 sites.
Many of BCC’s clients feel that one of the most valuable parts of the service is the amount of time which BCC free up for them. This allows clients to concentrate on core areas of their business, safe in the knowledge that their utilities are being looked after by experts. BCC offer a high level of ongoing support to all clients.
BCC’s team was able to consolidate a large portion of various electricity and gas contracts. Aside from the administrative savings, this has had a direct impact on how much the charity is now spending on its energy requirements.
Results:
BCC was able to secure Marie Stopes a saving of 40.2% on gas and 44.4% on electricity. Overall, compared with what they had been previously paying, Marie Stopes International saved 43.9% on energy costs.
BCC continue to work with Marie Stopes International to investigate ways to reduce costs further.
