Linthouse Housing Association save over 35k on electricity and gas costs

Client:

Linthouse Housing Association is a non-profit making organisation and was established in 1974. The Association has over 1100 properties under its management.

The Association aims to provide good quality affordable housing which will allow residents choice in a secure living environment. It also aims to assist in the economic regeneration of its operational area.

Situation:

Business Cost Consultants (BCC) was appointed to carry out an audit of all utility costs for Linthouse Housing Association in July 2010 in order to find ways to reduce electricity and gas costs.

Strategy:

BCC’s team analysed carried out an audit of current and historical electricity and gas costs as well as contract status. Following this initial review, BCC’s team recommended that all contracts be put out to tender to secure more competitive rates. This was agreed with the association and completely managed by BCC.

In addition, BCC’s consultants consolidated supplies to reduce the number of invoices and administrative burden associated with the huge volume of paperwork.

Results:

Following the initial audit, BCC’s team identified savings of over £35K as well as reduced the administrative time and costs through the consolidation of supplies.

The team at BCC continues to manage electricity and gas contracts for Linthouse H.A. to ensure that the association is paying the least amount possible for electricity and gas and to take the burden away from the association’s team. The client is kept up-to-date with any supplier or billing issues with which the team at BCC are dealing.

Lastly, BCC has provided Linthouse H.A. with several recommendations on ways to reduce utility consumption and will continue to support the association to implement those recommendations that are accepted.
