Energy and water management services for High School of Dundee
The High School of Dundee is one of Scotland’s leading independent schools and is among the oldest in the United Kingdom. It is a fee-paying, co-educational day school of just over 1000 pupils, of whom around 330 are in the Junior School, making it the largest independent school in Tayside and Fife.
Business Cost Consultants (BCC) was appointed by the High School of Dundee to manage the energy and water services.
BCC has worked with the school to develop an energy procurement strategy and use expert industry knowledge to assist with the ongoing management of utilities and cost reduction.
By closely monitoring the energy market and opportunities for buying in advance, decisions have been taken to secure future energy contracts, almost a year in advance, resulting in a reduction in cost by around £21,000 (27%).
A number of water projects have been undertaken, including tariff analysis and removal of incorrect charges, resulting in a total saving of around £27,000.
“The tailored energy procurement and market advice has assisted the school with developing an effective procurement strategy and to enable informed decisions regarding opportunities to secure supply contracts in advance. The utility management services and invoice validation also ensure the ongoing costs are monitored so we can be confident there are no unexpected or incorrect charges”
