Abertay Housing Association save over 30% on utility costs
Abertay Housing Association was formed in 1997 and manage 1,794 homes across Dundee. This includes 7 sheltered complexes with 283 properties.
Abertay is strongly committed to servicing the needs of residents and recently achieved the Silver Investors in People Award.
One of the primary objectives is to help residents minimise direct and indirect energy costs. This is achieved through a variety of initiatives such as the major energy efficiency investment and refurbishment programme for the high-rise and sheltered complex at Dryburgh Gardens.
BCC was appointed to review energy tariffs and services. Various cost reduction initiatives delivered savings of 36%. Refund recovery and rebates negotiated with utility companies amounted to around £20,000.
The savings have enabled Abertay to maintain low costs as well as helping to finance new developments.
In partnership with BCC, Abertay has also made a freephone service available to tenants to provide independent advice on supplier selection and reducing energy tariffs. This provides an easy route for tenants to reduce energy costs.
“We are delighted with the quality of the service we are receiving from Business Cost Consultants (BCC) both in terms of the reduction in our own staff time procuring and administering gas and electricity supplies and with the cost savings that have been generated. The reporting we receive from BCC is clear and easy to understand and their staff have been great to work with.”
