What we do
Water conservation
With your permission we will undertake the following at no cost to you:
- Invite a number of reputable suppliers to quote for the supply and installation of smart data loggers, one sensor for each water meter.
- Evaluate their quotations and make recommendations to you.
- Oversee the installation of the smart data loggers. (Normally the return on investment is less than 12 months.)
- Establish the normal consumption profile for your site by remotely monitoring.
- Analyse the data and send our experts on to your site to investigate ways to reduce your water consumption and effluent production.
- Oversee the implementation of their recommendations.
The water conservation measures we will consider include
- flow controls on toilets, taps, showers;
- rain water harvesting;
- use of water in production and cooling systems;
- leak detection;
- water pressure problems;
- water use in swimming pools.

Soft loans and Enhanced Capital Allowances
Business Cost Consultants can provide you with advice on which equipment is subject to soft loans and Enhanced Capital Allowances. Soft loans mean that the money is lent to you over 4 or 5 years. You are allowed to repay it without interest.
Enhanced Capital Allowances means that you can write off the cost of the approved equipment against you profits in the year purchased.
Overcharges
Business Cost Consultants will carry out an audit of your water and effluent charges. That enables us to identify any overcharges and seek to recover them on your behalf. For some clients we have recovered up to 6 years of overcharges, saving them a large sum of money.
Water meters
Should you pay your water charges based on rateable value or install a meter? Business Cost Consultants can do the calculations and give you independent advice.
Oversized meters lead to needless recurring charges as standing charges are based on meter sizes. We can identify the correct meter size for your site and arrange for a replacement.
Leak detection
Business Cost Consultants can quickly identify leaks at your side of the water meter. That can be done via bill analysis or through an on-site survey which can lead to significant immediate savings. With a smart data logger attached to your water meter, you will receive a text or an email to inform you that your water consumption has suddenly increased significantly.
If you have suffered from an underground water leak you will know how costly it can be. Business Cost Consultants can often reclaim some or all of the charges for water losses.

Trade effluence analysis

Notional reliefs
Business Cost Consultants will carry out an analysis of your bills and an on-site inspection. They can alert you to any reliefs or allowances which may be available and not being used. Checking bills & monitoring consumption
Business Cost Consultants can check your incoming water and effluent bills for you to ensure they are correct and monitor your water consumption. That helps ensure that you only pay what is due and we quickly spot abnormal water consumption.
